Ways to Donate

Making a Donation

Did you know CATS is 100% volunteer-run & donation-funded, and 100% of your donation goes back to the care of the cats?

Your contributions provide critical funding for essential services such as shelter, food, medical care, and spaying/neutering and enables us to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned or homeless cats, ensuring they receive the love and care they need.

*Tax receipts available by request for qualifying donations.

Monetary Donations

Would you like to make a monthly recurring donation to our rescue? CATS graciously thanks you! We trust Canada Helps when it comes to our monthly donations; it’s easy to sign up, they automatically take the payment for you each month and issue a tax receipt right from their website, easy peasy.

E-transfer is a great way to donate from the comfort of your own home. Use TheCatAdvocates@gmail.com as the email address and specify “donation” in the memo portion.

Our Thrift Corner Team accepts cash, debit and credit card donations during Thrift Corner hours.

Look for our white donation tins that rotate around different businesses in town; feel free to pop your leftover change in them if you come across one.

Food/Supply Donations

Donating your Woofy’s points to CATS or buying food while shopping for your pet is a wonderful way to help CATS. Advise the cashier; they will add the points to our account, or put aside any items, and call us to pick them up. Dropping off food and supplies at our rescue during our Thrift Corner hours is also a tremendous help for our cats in care.

*Please do not donate old open or used bags of food/treats or broken/soiled/unusable supplies.

BOTTLE/CAN DONATIONS

This is a fantastic source of funding for the cats! On the right side of our building, you’ll find four large containers to drop off your returnable bottles and cans at your convenience. Our team empties these containers regularly and brings them inside for our bottle sorters to prepare them for the depot.

Alternatively, drop off directly at the Return-It Depot and request that your bottle returns be credited to our CATS account—Courtenay account #566.

LEGACY GIVING

Do you know that you can include the Cat Advocates Teaching & Saving Society (CATS) in your Will as part of your overall financial and estate planning?

By doing so, you can leave a lasting legacy of saving lives. Many cats will continue to be rescued and given a second chance at a loving home because of generous friends like you who think ahead.

Your Will is an essential document that reflects your values and dictates how you will be remembered. You can easily name CATS as a beneficiary in your Will to continue playing a role in rescuing and caring for cats long after you are gone. It’s a simple process that involves speaking to your lawyer and having CATS added as a beneficiary in your Will.

By leaving a donation to CATS in your Will, you will be remembered as an animal advocate and receive a tax deduction for your estate since CATS is a registered charity.

So, why not give the gift that keeps on giving and leave a legacy that makes a difference in the lives of many cats for years to come?
