Cheddar is a special guy who has been with CATS since early 2024 and has had a journey of ups and downs. Over his time here, he has befriended some of the other shelter cats but has also been domineering a bit over others, showing his compatibility with other cats as dependent or circumstantial.

He has had phases of progress where he has shown his playful and sweet side, eager to play with butterfly string toys, happy to take a treat, enjoy a gentle pet, play with kittens, or curl up to snooze with another shelter cat.

Cheddar would thrive in a quiet home with no other animals and ideally no children, where he is shown respect and patience, to have space to be comfortable in his own time, a space where he can just be and continue getting used to the presence of his new human(s). Cheddar loves a catio where he can feel the breeze in his fur and watch the birds fly about.

Whoever chooses to dedicate their love and care to Cheddar must understand that he will take a very long time to settle in but will ultimately find themselves in a rewarding relationship with this independent guy.

CATS has a Trial Adoption program. This program allows you to take a cat home for a period of time before you finalize the adoption, to determine if you and the cat are a good lifelong match. Matches will be made for residents living on Vancouver Island only at this time.

Please note we do not adopt kittens on their own. They must be adopted in pairs or you must have a young cat already in the home as a mate.

Kittens, up to one year – $300
Adults, 1-10 years – $225
Adults, 10-15 years – $175
15+ years – TBD
