Papaya (aka super Mario)

What can you say about an orange cat…Papaya is very fond of men in particular and will attach himself to one person for constant affection, cuddling, scratching, and rubbing of tummies. He loves to rub his face against yours and is a very “personal” cat.

He is extremely healthy with bright eyes that see right through you. Totally addicted to treats but eats well all other food too. His sandbox gets a regular workout and has never had a “mistake.”

A normal day with Papaya starts out with a pick up and cuddle for a few minutes until he tells you that he is ok to start his day. He will sleep as most cats do, for quite a bit of the day and likes to find a quiet, out of the way spot for his “catnaps”. At times during the day, he loves to be picked up and placed on your chest and quickly falls into a mad purring session with the occasional snout rub or love nibble to let you know that he loves you and trusts you implicitly. Early evening, it’s as if he has a secret stash of catnip, he goes a bit crazy and runs up and down the hallway and in and out of the bathroom and then collapses into a heap on the living room floor with his favourite ball toy. Around 8 pm, he knows that its time to go to bed and he will lead you to his cat bed, where he gets a nightly treat snack and quick cuddle and its goodnight.

Words from Papaya’s Foster:
One of the nicest cats I have ever encountered, and he is totally devoted to humans. He can get scared when there is abnormal activity in “his” home, or when there are a few strangers. But he quickly recovers.

He is exceptionally clean and is constantly preening, he does not shed that much, and his coat is glistening. He loves to be brushed and combed and will tell you when its time to stop.

A very lovely, devoted companion, who will be missed dearly around his Foster home.

Papaya has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and has received preventative flea and worm treatments.

If you’re interested in Papaya or have any questions about them, please send a message to TheCatAdvocates@gmail.com. Please be patient; response times may vary as we are all volunteers.

CATS has a Foster to Adopt program. This program allows you to take a cat home for a period of time before you finalize the adoption, to determine if you and the cat are a good lifelong match. Matches will be made for residents living on Vancouver Island only at this time.

For more information, see click here

Please note, the best applicant will be chosen for the best fit for the cat, adoptions are not on a first come first served basis.

Adoption fees:
Kittens, up to one year – $250
Adults, 1-10 years – $200
Adults, 10-15 years – $150
15+ years – TBD
